Research & Development

Cancer control in India needs appropriate translational research. While basic knowledge from experimental cancer research is abundant, it needs to be validated in population-based studies for application to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Additionally, India lacks baseline data for planning preventive and interventional strategies.

CFI’s R&D programs focus on cancer screening, chemoprevention, epidemiology, identifying indigenous risk factors for high-incidence cancers through baseline population-based surveys, and developing low-cost diagnostic methods with appropriate technology for cancer detection.
